The reel is just a touch heavier than the STX models but feels more solid than a Gen 3 STX due to the aluminum side plates. The dual braking system (centrifugal and magnetic) is the best at its price point I think. It isn't quite up to an MGL shimano spool, but for anything over 1/4 oz you won't notice much of a difference and over 3/8 oz there isn't really a difference.
